Special edition in collaboration with "Plastic Free Ibiza". Saltwater marinated black garlic is the European answer to the UMAMI flavor "discovered" in Japan. Vanilla and plum nuances come into play along with caramel, balsamic and licorice. Sal de Ibiza's "Mar Blau" formula is very versatile: you can use it in sauces, aioli or hummus, or give that special touch to a tomato quiche.
Raw garlic is preserved in sea salt brine at a low temperature for about 4 months. This very slow fermentation creates a unique and unmistakable aroma and gives the garlic its black colour.
With this special edition, SAL de IBIZA supports a charity project: for each purchase of "Mar Blau" ("Mar Azul" in Eivissenc) we donate €1 to "PLASTIC FREE IBIZA". This Ibiza-based non-profit organization supports local projects that work to preserve the environment and the extraordinary natural beauty of our favorite island, so that future generations can love and enjoy Ibiza too.
Left untouched by any kind of refining, this salt retains its more than 80 essential minerals and trace elements, such as magnesium, fluoride, selenium, and iodine. Fleur de Sel is highly regarded as a marine salt of supreme quality. It is bright white, occasionally with a pink shimmer. Being “fresh” salt and hand-harvested, it is always slightly moist and remains best when kept in the same state. Its taste is very subtle yet aromatic.
Sal de Ibiza, harvested in what is today’s nature reserve “Parc Natural de Ses Salines d’Eivissa” (Spain), is not subjected to any processes. It is a completely natural sea-salt with no additives of any kind.
It includes a small porcelain spoon.
